Some of what the report found is a source for deep concern. Israel-Thailand relationship is rapidly growing, particularly with Israeli sectors deeply complicit with violations of international law, war crimes and human rights abuses against Palestinians. The report makes evident that these ties help perpetuate Israel’s impunity by rewarding international law violations, including war crimes against Palestinians, and violate Thailand’s third state obligations. Israel-Thailand relationship also runs against Thailand’s longstanding commitment against colonialism and its support for Palestinian right to self-determination.

The report released in 2015 formulates specific recommendations for the Thai government, companies, consumers and universities. Some concrete measures can be taken to limit, reduce or stop the cooperation with Israel. By doing so, Thailand will stop its tacit support for the continuing injustices being done to Palestinians and will contribute to put international pressure on Israel to respect International Law. BDS campaigners in Thailand and around the world will continue to scrutinize closely developments in Israel-Thailand relations and take steps towards their halt until Israel respects the full human rights of Palestinians, including the right of return, and falls in line with international law, in response to the 2005 Palestinian BDS call. It is time for Thailand to consider the significant shifts taking place in the West of Israel’s growing isolation and pariah status and take a principled approach in holding Israel accountable by ending complicity with its illegal actions and impose sanctions. We call on Thailand citizens and institutions to join the growing and effective BDS movement.
