JNF

A key pillar of the colonization of Palestine – from the founding of the State of Israel to the present – has been the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (KKL), commonly known in English as the Jewish National Fund (JNF). The JNF enjoys charity status in over 50 countries and serves as a global fundraiser for Israeli colonization and apartheid.
The Jewish National Fund (JNF) was instrumental in the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in the 1948 Nakba, and continues to play a central role in maintaining Israel’s regime of apartheid. The JNF provided political, financial and intelligence support for the Zionist forces in their conquest, massacres and ethnic cleansing operations that characterized the 1948-49 war and the Palestinian Nakba. After the 1948 Nakba and the expulsion of approximately two-thirds of the Palestinian population from their homeland, the JNF was repackaged as an environmentalist organization carrying out forestation activities and ‘greenwashing’ Israeli colonization of Palestinian land. Today, the JNF controls vast properties belonging to millions of Palestinians, developing them exclusively for persons of “Jewish nationality,” a concept established and promoted in the JNF’s charter to exclude all others.
The Stop the JNF Campaign, established by a coalition of solidarity organizations around the world including Palestinian and Israeli groups, aims to expose the JNF’s violations of Palestinian rights and international law, promote civil and legal challenges to the JNF throughout Europe, the Americas and Australasia, seeking to annul the JNF’s charitable privileges and tax-exempt fundraising, and have JNF offices world-wide shut down.
In Spring 2010, the Palestinain BDS National Committee(link) and others united against Israeli Apartheid called for an international campaign to Stop the Jewish National Fund. Since then, action against this key pillar of Israeli Apartheid has been taken all over the world. In March 2011, the international campaign against the JNF was launched(link).
The Stop the JNF campaign aims to achieve its aims through: exposing and documenting the role of the JNF in the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestine; protesting and disrupting the JNF’s fundraising activities across the globe; opposing and acting to nullify the JNF’s charitable and tax exempt status; condemning the activities of the JNF through popular tribunals and truth commissions; supporting Palestinian and Israeli organizations resisting the forced displacement of Palestinians in the Naqab and Galilee; and urging those organizations collaborating with the JNF, and especially those with environmental and anti-racist mandates, to break ties with the JNF.

Demonstrations across Palestine and international BDS actions mark Palestinian Land Day
Palestinians are today commemorating with action Land Day, a day in 1976 when Israeli military forces shot and killed six young Palestinian citizens of Israel. These brave youth were among thousands protesting the Israeli government’s expropriation of Palestinian land. International supporters of the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and equality are marking Land Day with actions and initiatives to further campaigns for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel.
