Palestinians Urge Boycott of Normalisation Event at London School of Economics, Thank Those Who Refused to Participate

The conference violates anti-normalisation guidelines agreed on by the vast majority of Palestinian civil society since 2007.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) calls on all people of conscience to boycott the 24 March event ‘Towards a New Generation in Palestine & Israel’ at the London School of Economics, as it violates the anti-normalisation guidelines agreed on by the vast majority of Palestinian civil society since 2007.

This conference effectively seeks to reduce over 70 years of Israel’s settler-colonialism and apartheid to a ‘conflict’ resulting from a lack of understanding that could be eliminated through dialogue between two equal parties. This unethical act of false equivalence normalises the unjust status quo.

Only by eliminating the root cause of this colonial conflict, namely by ending Israel’s occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid, can there be a chance for a just and enduring peace.

We thank those Palestinians who have withdrawn from or refused to take part in this normalisation event, denying it the coveted Palestinian fig-leaf.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) was initiated in 2004 to contribute to the struggle for Palestinian freedom, justice and equality. PACBI advocates for the boycott of Israeli academic and cultural institutions, given their deep and persistent complicity in Israel’s denial of Palestinian rights as stipulated in international law.
