In Gaza, there has been a great tragedy for humanity. The whole world is not reacting to it, as if they were all deaf and blind. The Israeli government has lost its discernment and has cruelly targeted Palestinian children. In Ramadan, the Muslim world’s holy month, people having iftar were disrupted by Israeli bombs, by tears, grief and sorrow. Everyone who remains silent in the face of this Israeli cruelty is complicit in this crime.
The Boycott, Divests and Sanctions (BDS) movement is growing relentless. On the boycott front, a Finnish campaign is under way to cancel a new deal to purchase Israeli drones. Like Canada, the US, Turkey and Russia, Finland has been attracted by Israeli know-how in lethal weapons. The Finnish Defence Ministry recently signed an agreement on drone purchases, in defiance of EU regulations.
A Turkish company has canceled an order of two containers of carpets from Israel's Carmel Carpets, saying it can't sell Israeli products at this time.
"We believe that in the current situation we won't be able to sell carpets made in Israel," Bytex CEO explained.
Each container is said to be worth some NIS 100,000 (about $26,700). The Bytex CEO asked to cancel the order for fear it would cause him financial damage and tarnish his image.
Carmel Carpets has been in contact with this client for some 10 years. "We created a friendly, almost family-like relationship," says a Carmel manager.
