On April 19, 2017, Palestine solidarity groups in the Spanish state issued the following statement on the Barcelona City Council's historic vote to end its complicity with Israel's violations of Palestinian human rights. This statement is translated from the original Spanish statement.

On March 23, 2017, the Spanish leftist political party Podemos declared its support for the right to advance the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement for Palestinian rights. On March 30, a BDS campaign in Spain released the following statement. (Read the statement in Spanish here.)

The Provincial Council of Valencia (Diputación de Valéncia) became the 60th city in the Spanish state declaring itself Free of Israeli Apartheid. 

Inspired in part by a similar campaign during the struggle against apartheid in South Africa in the 1980s, the Israeli Apartheid Free Zone campaign is led by the Solidarity Network Against the Occupation of Palestine (RESCOP) in the Spanish state.
