Palestinians urge Africa Creative Market to drop complicit Israeli film fund

The Rabinovich Foundation obligates filmmakers to deny apartheid Israel’s colonial violence

The largest Palestinian civil society coalition that leads the global BDS movement calls on the Africa Creative Market to drop the complicit Rabinovich Foundation as a partner.

The Rabinovich Foundation is deeply involved in whitewashing Israel’s apartheid regime and the ethnic cleansing inherent to its foundation, as its own contract with filmmakers shows. Its colonial censorship reminds us of South Africa’s apartheid-era Publications Control Board that attempted to disrupt the flow of information that could expose the white regime’s racist oppression.

Leading human rights organisations – including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Israel’s B’Tselem – have designated Israel as an apartheid regime. Attaching racist political conditions to film projects in order to deny colonial realities, as the Rabinovich Foundation does, should have no place in a forward-looking creative initiative such as the ACM.
