BNC Statement

In March 2012, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution establishing a Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) with the mandate to examine and issue a report on how the illegal Israeli settlements impact on the human rights (all civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights, including the right to self-determination) of Palestinians. Israel boycotted and refused to cooperate with the proceedings preventing the  entry of the FFM into the West Bank.

The FFM invited Palestinian victims and experts, including NGOs, to submit written submissions and oral testimonies in October 2012.

Occupied Palestine, 15 February 2013 - The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), a broad coalition of the largest Palestinian civil society organizations, trade unions and NGO networks, supports the outcomes of the UN Fact Finding Mission on Israeli Settlements[1] that calls for boycotts and sanctions as measures required to end the illegal Israeli settlement enterprise.

Under her leadership, the club of 15 members has embarked this fall on the Gaza Strip’s first campus-based boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign targeting Israel.

Open Shuhada Street and the UCT Palestinian Solidarity Forum have vowed to increase their protests at Cape Town's Wellness Warehouse (Kloof Street branch) and have called on the public to join them on 13 October 2012, from 11:30-13:30.

Last Saturday, August 25 the first Brisbane Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Walking Tour was held, successfully highlighting a number of stores in the Brisbane CBD that profit from the products of Israeli apartheid. The Tour spent around ten minutes outside the Children of the Revolution store where a speech was given about the Naot brand of shoes. A letter was delivered to the store management by two BDS activists, after which the tour moved on (see speech and letter below).

Israel is "pillaging" the natural resources of the Dead Sea which lie in occupied Palestinian territory in violation of international law, a report which singles out the cosmetics firm Ahava for criticism.
