In May 2012 the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (NUMGE) and Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) published a report demonstrating that Norwegian authorities and companies, through financial investments and trade, are involved in activities that contribute to Israel’s breaches of international law and human rights. The report further revealed how groups in Norway give direct support to the occupation by means of monetary transfers to individual settlements.

In a letter sent to the chief of EU foreign policy Catherine Ashton, 23 members of European Parliament called for the suspention of EU-Israel Association Agreement.

It is very unique that such a significant, cross-party initiative has been taken by MEP`s to call outright for suspention of the Association Agreement.

In their letter MEP`s stated that:

“The Agreement is based on mutual respect for human rights and democratic principles, as explicitly stated in article 2 of the Agreement.

The Dutch government has announced that it will introduce new guidance calling on retailers to label fresh produce from illegal Israeli settlements in a way that distinguishes it from products originating inside Israel.

In March 2012, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution establishing a Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) with the mandate to examine and issue a report on how the illegal Israeli settlements impact on the human rights (all civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights, including the right to self-determination) of Palestinians. Israel boycotted and refused to cooperate with the proceedings preventing the  entry of the FFM into the West Bank.

The FFM invited Palestinian victims and experts, including NGOs, to submit written submissions and oral testimonies in October 2012.

Occupied Palestine, 15 February 2013 - The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), a broad coalition of the largest Palestinian civil society organizations, trade unions and NGO networks, supports the outcomes of the UN Fact Finding Mission on Israeli Settlements[1] that calls for boycotts and sanctions as measures required to end the illegal Israeli settlement enterprise.
