US: Campaigners confront bookseller's apartheid links

Activists from Campaign Against Israeli Apartheid confronted majority shareholders at Reisman and Schwartz about Israeli military links at Indigo Books and Music Inc, on June 21 2007. Indigo Books and Music Inc shareholders' Heather Reisman and Gerry Schwarz's founding and support for Heseg – Foundation for Lone Soldiers. Heseg, founded in 2005, provides financial support to former Israeli “Lone Soldiers” in the form of scholarships. On Heseg's board sit several retired Israeli military officers, including Doron Almog, who narrowly avoided arrest in 2005 in London, UK, for war crimes.

Heseg, founded in 2005, provides financial support to former Israeli “Lone Soldiers” in the form of scholarships. On Heseg's board sit several retired Israeli military officers, including Doron Almog, who narrowly avoided arrest in 2005 in London, UK, for war crimes. Heseg has no charitable function. In fact, its sole purpose is to provide financial support to mercenaries who wish to settle in Israel after serving in occupied Palestine. CAIA has called for a boycott of Indigo Books and Music Inc. in a growing nation-wide campaign that saw pickets of dozens of Chapters and Indigo bookstores across the country on June 9th in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Israeli occupation. Over 100,000 leaflets were distributed on that day in the greater Vancouver and Toronto areas, Victoria, Calgary, Winnipeg, St. Catharines, London, Montreal, and Halifax. Weekly and bi-weekly vigils in front of Chapters and Indigo bookstores continue in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. CAIA
