Updates from the palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC): Posted by Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC)

Update

The Trump administration’s decision to open the US embassy in Jerusalem as Palestinians commemorate 70 painful years of displacement signals that it’s giving Israel freer reign than ever to try to push Palestinians out of their homeland. But a growing alliance of progressive communities around the world gives Palestinians hope that together they can, and will, end the ongoing assaults on Palestinian life, and create a better world for all.

Update

"Their Independence is our Nakba. The ethnic cleansing of 750,000 to one million indigenous Palestinians 70 years ago and turning them into refugees to establish a Jewish-majority state in Palestine is no cause for celebration. The Nakba is not a crime of the past, it is ongoing. We commemorate by asserting our right to return home and to live in freedom and dignity."

Update

Prince William’s scheduled trip to Israel this summer would contravene seven decades of British policy against official visits to Israel by the royal family. Despite many invitations, the royal family has avoided visits to avoid giving a royal stamp of approval to Israel’s decades-old violations of Palestinian human rights. As Israel’s far-right government intensifies its violations of international law, this is no time to change this precedent. The UK should pressure Israel to end its violations of Palestinian rights and cancel Prince William's trip.

Update

"Dublin has offered the strongest response to date to Israel’s latest massacre against unarmed Palestinian protesters in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip. This is the most impressive win yet for the BDS movement in 2018."

BNC Statement

The BDS National Committee (BNC) supports calls for an independent, international investigation and is calling for effective accountability measures against Israel, particularly a two-way military embargo.

Analysis

This memo reflects the Palestinian BDS National Committee's position on who bears responsibility for human rights violations in cases of corporate restructuring and splits.

Update

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) 2018 features over 150 events taking place in 33 countries across 6 continents! This year’s theme centers around the 70th anniversary of the 1948 Palestinian Nakba — the planned mass expulsion of more than 750,000 indigenous Palestinians to establish an exclusionary Jewish-majority state in Palestine — and the ongoing popular creative resistance to it. Find out how you can participate and support IAW this year.
