The #BoycottCarrefour campaign is mobilizing for a global week of action from 18 - 24 May, leading up to Carrefour’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Join actions worldwide calling for escalating pressure on the French multinational retail giant to end its complicity in Israel’s regime of settler colonialism, apartheid, illegal occupation, and genocide.
BDS pressure has forced Carrefour to exit Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Let’s do more of that.
Why Carrefour?
Carrefour’s complicity is ongoing and well documented:
- Material support for genocide: Since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Carrefour Israel has provided care packages to Israeli soldiers. In 2024, it supplied Israel’s war ministry with food and beverages.
- Partnerships with complicit companies: In 2022, Carrefour partnered with Electra Consumer Products and its subsidiary Yenot Bitan, Israeli companies linked to grave human rights violations and profiting from the Israeli theft of Palestinian land and resources.
- Profiting from illegal settlements: Carrefour’s operations are tied to businesses that operate in, or support, Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise.
Our demands
The BDS movement calls on supporters of Palestinian rights worldwide to #BoycottCarrefour, until the French corporation:
- Ends its franchise agreement with Israel’s Electra Consumer Products and its subsidiary Yenot Bitan; and
- Stops all sales of products from illegal Israeli settlements in the thousands of supermarkets and convenience stores it operates around the world.
The movement also called on Carrefour’s partners to either pressure their French partner to end its complicity in the Israeli violations, or to dissolve the franchise partnership with it completely.
Take action now! Join the #BoycottCarrefour Global Week of Action
From 18 - 24 May, join people around the world to pressure Carrefour and its partners:
- Contact local stores: Write or email your local Carrefour store management, pressuring them to drop their franchise agreement with Carrefour, or at least raise concerns with the parent company about the campaign’s demands. Download a sample letter here.
- Organize actions: including peaceful disruptive actions in front of or inside your local Carrefour group stores. Talk to shoppers, share what’s going on in the campaign, and encourage people to support #BoycottCarrefour. If you can, take a few photos or short videos and share them with the hashtag so others can see and stay informed.
- Amplify online: Amplify the call to #BoycottCarrefour by flooding Carrefour’s social media accounts—and those of its CEO, Alexandre Bompard—with messages demanding the company end its complicity and stop profiting from Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people.
- Spread the boycott: Encourage and involve your community to take part. From Jordan to Spanish state, Morocco to Belgium, and from the Dominican Republic to Senegal and Brazil, partners have used both classic and creative tactics to grow the #BoycottCarrefour campaign. Get inspired here and adapt these strategies to your local context.
A growing global campaign
Since its launch in December 2022, the boycott has expanded, from Morocco to Brazil, and from Spain to Mauritius. Sustained grassroots organizing, including protests, consumer boycotts, supplier pressure, and creative campaigns, has already achieved tangible results:
- Carrefour Group experienced a steep drop in net profit by over 55% in 2025 vs 2024, and it is selling operations and retreating from key markets.
- Its regional partner in the Arab region, Majid Al Futtaim, has shut down operations under BDS pressure in Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
- Carrefour’s partners are increasingly describing the partnership as a “burden.”
BDS pressure is not only symbolic. It is truly impactful.
Our message is clear: End complicity or face growing global BDS pressure.
Carrefour is already feeling the pressure, from shrinking operations, to falling profits, and mounting reputational damage. Yet its complicity continues. Join the #BoycottCarrefour Global Week of Action 18 - 24 May.
The genocide has not stopped and neither will we.
