The Palestinian-led BDS movement calls on supporters worldwide to join Anti-Chevron actions this month, starting May 17 and continuing through the day of Chevron’s annual shareholder meeting on May 28.
Anti-Chevron Day has been organized by Amazon Watch since 2014. It is a global day of action protesting Chevron’s past and ongoing climate destruction and violations of human rights globally, especially in the Amazon basin in Latin America. In solidarity with the BDS movement’s call to boycott Chevron for its complicity in Israel’s genocide and apartheid, Amazon Watch and allies have integrated the Palestinian-led Boycott Chevron campaign into the Anti-Chevron Day tradition.
At Chevron’s upcoming 2026 annual shareholder meeting, shareholders will vote on a proposal calling on the company to evaluate whether its due diligence processes are sufficient to prevent complicity in violations of international law arising from its operations in high risk regions, including its role in Israel’s genocide against Palestinians. This is a crucial time for us to mobilize. We know that Chevron is feeling the heat.
Chevron operates in at least 84 countries across the world. Wherever you are in the world, there are actions you can take to be part of the Boycott Chevron campaign. In the last two years, five Chevron sponsorships have been dropped by events or institutions in the US following pressure campaigns by local activists and organizations. We encourage supporters to build on these successes by taking on sponsorship campaigns to remove Chevron as a sponsor of events, organizations, or universities in your community.
Wherever you are, you can help us increase the pressure on Chevron.
If you’re in the US, you can take part in the sponsorship campaign by:
- If you have just a few minutes or an hour:
- uscpr.org/DropChevron digital tool to contact institutions and events across the country that are partnered with Chevron
- Join ‘state of the movement’ webinar & call-in in early June (stay tuned for the link!) where we will share strategy and resources emphasizing sponsorship campaigns, education around cross movement organizing, and take action together for the Texas Rattlers Chevron Out sponsorship campaign.
- If you’re able to organize a group:
- Engage allies and community members in your area with fliers to educate about the campaign and intersections with other movements for justice
- Organize a Boycott Chevron action and build solidarity with environmental justice organizations and movements (consider sharing the Boycott Chevron climate zine at local events or rallies)
- Explore sponsorships in your area in the action tool and map, start a campaign, and contact the Boycott Chevron coalition to join the coalition
If you’re interested in taking wider action, such as making your own version of the Chevron map for your region, we can offer support–you can contact the coalition through boycottchevron.info.
