Elbit Factory Sale is Another Step to End Israeli Apartheid

Years of grassroots campaigning against Elbit, including direct action, lobbying and grassroots education, in Oldham and elsewhere in the UK, have exposed the company’s direct complicity in Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated against Palestinians, particularly in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Elbit System's sale of its factory in Oldham, UK, is yet another victory in the over a decade-long global campaign against apartheid Israel's biggest military company.

In 2009, Norway’s massive pension fund divested from Elbit due to its involvement in Israel’s grave violations of Palestinian rights. Over the years, BDS pressure has also cost Elbit major contracts and investments from Brazil to Australia.

Elbit tests its killer drones and other weapons on Palestinians, provides technology for apartheid Israel's walls inside the occupied West Bank and around Gaza. It then sells and reproduces this expertise across the globe as “field-tested.”

Palestinians have called for a comprehensive military embargo on Israel similar to that imposed on apartheid South Africa in the past.

We ask TT Electronics, the new owner of the Oldham factory, to end all ties with Israel’s military industry and protect jobs that respect the rights of the people and the planet.

The closure of Elbit’s Oldham factory should inspire human rights campaigners worldwide to escalate strategic campaigning to raise the price for Israel’s regime of settler-colonialism and apartheid and for all the companies and institutions that enable its crimes against Indigenous Palestinians.
