Glasgow City Council: Don’t Promote Israeli Apartheid’s Killing Machines!

Send a letter to Glasgow City Council to end its support of the Undersea Defence Technology Fair where Israeli arms will be promoted!

From June 26-28, Glasgow City Council will sponsor the Undersea Defence Technology Fair, a military fair featuring companies that fuel wars and military oppression around the world, including Israeli military companies.

Israeli arms companies have a regular presence in European arms fairs in an attempt to export Israel's repressive tactics and militarism. They must be stopped.

The fair  lists “Israel Defense,” a media enterprise that promotes Israel’s arms industry, as an official media partner. Israeli company DSIT Solutions, which facilitates Israel’s illegal naval siege on Gaza will also be present at the fair. Israeli arms companies regularly market their weapons as “tested in combat” or “field tested,” meaning they are tested on Palestinians bodies and then exported to promote oppression in the rest of the world.

Glasgow’s arms fair has been condemned by peace campaigners across Scotland for its promotion of arms trade and links to Trident, the UK’s program for the development, procurement and operation of nuclear weapons. BAE Systems and Babcock International, two companies involved in Trident, are also sponsoring  the fair.

Send a letter to Susan Aitken,Glasgow City Council leader, to end the council’s sponsorship of this military fair! Glasgow City Council, don’t sponsor Israeli apartheid’s human rights violations!

Dear Susan Aitken,

We urge you to end Glasgow City Council’s support of the Undersea Defence Technology Fair, a military fair featuring companies that fuel wars and military oppression around the world, including Israeli military companies. It is scheduled to take place from June 26-28 in Glasgow.

Israeli arms companies regularly market their weapons as “tested in combat” or “field tested,” meaning they are tested on Palestinians bodies and then exported to promote oppression in the rest of the world.

In the last three months, Israeli forces killed more than 117 unarmed Palestinian protesters, including 13 children, and injured more than 13,000, leaving many with life-changing disabilities. Amnesty International has condemned Israel’s shoot-to-kill-or-maim policy and Human Rights Watch described the killings as “unlawful and calculated.”

Glasgow’s arms fair has already been condemned by peace campaigners across Scotland for its promotion of arms trade and links to Trident, the UK’s program for the development, procurement and operation of nuclear weapons. BAE Systems and Babcock International, two companies involved in Trident are also among the main sponsors of the fair.

Israel has tested its deadly technology, including teargas and armed drones, on civilians and is now exporting its repressive tactics.

Glasgow City Council’s sponsorship of this arms fair, which will show Israeli weaponry used in Gaza blockade makes it complicit in Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.

Ms. Aitken, do not promote Israel’s killing machines. End Glasgow City Council’s sponsorship of the  Undersea Defence Technology Fair!

Sincerely,
