#OpenRafahBorder: Join the efforts to break the siege on Gaza

As Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues for over 40 days, Palestinians in the completely besieged and occupied Gaza Strip are suffering levels of inhumanity and atrocity that are beyond description.

Israel’s complete ban on all entry of fuel, food, water, electricity and medical supplies into Gaza, its planned ethnic cleansing of more than one million, and its carpet bombing of whole neighbourhoods, hospitals, and shelters add up to a genocide, given the genocidal intent declared daily by Israeli leaders. Gaza had been almost completely isolated from the rest of the world for over 16 years, but on October 8, Israel decided to use starvation, dehydration and disease as weapons in its genocidal war against  2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip.

As the number of Palestinians killed and injured rises sharply every day, hospitals and medical centres are shutting down one by one due to the lack of fuel and medical supplies and, in most cases, due to Israeli bombing. New-born babies at Al-Shifa Hospital were removed from incubators and left to face their destinies after fuel-powered electricity generators went off. Doctors operate difficult surgical procedures without anaesthesia and amputate saveable limbs because they don’t have the needed supplies.

While the US, Europe and other international powers choose to enable, arm and fund these atrocities, we, the people of conscience around the world, must ACT NOW to end the genocide.

Join the millions of activists, human rights defenders, politicians, union leaders, civic organizations, professors, writers and actors that demand an immediate ceasefire and an immediate, unconditional and permanent end to the siege of Gaza.

1. Mobilise and join the “Global Conscience Convoy”

In response to appeals from Palestinian civil society, especially the health sector, the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate has called for a Human Convoy to increase pressure to end Israel’s genocide against our people in Gaza, break the siege, and insist on the permanent opening of the Rafah border to allow all urgent humanitarian aid, including medicine and medical and rescue personnel into Gaza. To join these efforts:

  • Organize a delegation and join the convoy. Register through this form or contact the organizers.

  • Mobilize your union or organization to issue a statement in support of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate’s call for the Global Conscience Convoy.

  • If you can’t join the solidarity efforts on the ground in Egypt, you can still support the convoy from afar. Learn how

2. Mobilize and build pressure to #OpenRafahBorder

  • Sign and circulate the Open Rafah Crossing Directly & Permanently Now petition.

  • Hundreds have handed in the petition to the Egyptian authorities in London, Amman and Copenhagen. Join them.

  • Support all the upcoming actions and mobilizations in support of Palestine and against the genocidal war on Gaza. Intensify the calls for #CeasefireNOW and #OpenRafahBorder and an end to #GazaGenocide.

Supporting the steadfastness of our people in Gaza against Israel’s ethnic cleansing plans is an essential part of our struggle for our inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination, freedom, justice and the right of our refugees to return home.

If not now, when?
