Agents from Israel’s spy and international assassination organization Mossad, and dozens of police officers were deployed to stop protests at a basketball match between Israel’s Maccabi Electra and the home team in the eastern French city of Chalon on 25 October.

One spectator managed to break on to the court unfurling a Palestinian flag, while several others were arrested, according to local media reports.

Analysis

In December 2011, several BDS activists that were acquited of the charges against them relating to their involvement in BDS actions declared that freedom of speech had won out, and their lawyer hoped that the judgement would set a precendent in favour of campaigners. However, the so-called “National Bureau for Vigilance Against Antisemitism” (BNVCA) appealed the decision.

BERKELEY, CA - The University of California Student Association, which represents hundreds of thousands of students at all 10 UC campuses, passed a resolution today condemning recent attempts to censure boycott and divestment efforts by Palestinian human rights activists on campus, and demanding that the UC stop profiting from Israel’s human rights violations.  The motion passed without opposition by a vote of 12 to 0 (2 abstensions).

The resolution follows a recent motion passed by the California Assembly, HR-35.

BDS France have issued a report following the recent trial of three BDS activists relating to demonstrations calling for a boycott of Israeli produce. French activists have been facing a state-sanctioned campaign of repression.
