[IAI] - Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has been awarded a contract worth tens of millions of dollars for six Super Dvora MK-III fast patrol boats by an Asian customer.

The six boats, which will be delivered until the end of 2010, are very similar to the latest generation Super Dvora MK-III craft currently being produced for the Israel Navy and will utilize the same advanced articulating surface drive propulsion technology employed by the Israel Navy craft.   Construction of the Super Dvora MK-III will be done in Israel and will be overseen and approved by Lloyd's of London. Sea trials will be conducted in both countries.

"IAI has over 30 years of experience in developing and manufacturing advanced marine systems. Ramta’s fast patrol boats have proven to be successful solutions for anti-terror and homeland security missions," said Yair Gilboa, General Manager of IAI's Ramta Division.

Super Dvora MK-III is the latest generation of high-speed patrol boats designed by Ramta. It is the designated replacement for all previous Ramta patrol craft including the Dabur, Dvora, Shapirit, Super Dvora MK-I and MK-II classes operating in the Israel Navy and in twelve international navies.

The Israel Navy has so far taken delivery of nine Super Dvora Mk-III crafts since 2004, with additional deliveries ongoing. The fleet has accumulated over 80,000 operational hours at sea, including combat operations, while undergoing a minimal amount of non-scheduled maintenance.

Super Dvora MK-III operational capabilities include high interception speeds and maneuverability against sea targets, increased operational ranges, an array of advanced non-deck-penetrating stabilized weapon systems, and advanced human engineering and accommodations for the crew.
