Elbit Systems unit gets electronics orders for F-35

An Elbit Systems Ltd. joint venture with Rockwell Collins has received several new contracts, with a total value of more than $54.1 million, for electronics systems for the F-35 aircraft.

The venture, Vision Systems International, LLC (VSI), signed deals with Lockheed Martin Corporation, for the delivery of 52 F-35 Helmet Mounted Displays and 30 additional aircraft systems.

VSI also received initial funding for the Pilot Fit Facility Standup at Eglin Air Force Base for the F-35 Helmet Mounted Display System program.

Delivery under the contracts will begin this year and continue through 2012.

VSI was founded in 1996 to develop, manufacture and support fixed wing helmet mounted displays worldwide.

Shares in Elbit Systems closed yesterday at $57.32, giving a market cap of $2.41 billion.
